Flow-and-Shoot Technology (FAST)
Flow-And-Shoot Technology (FAST) integrates the existing RARAF microbeam technology with microfluidics tools. Instead of irradiating cells attached to a thin film, the cells are confined to a channel thinner than the range of the particles and as wide as the field of view of the imaging and beam targeting system. As the cells flow through the channel, they are continuously tracked and targeted using the point & shoot system, as shown in the movies below.
This real-time tracking allows microbeam irradiation of lymphocytes and other cells that cannot be attached to a surface. It also allows, coupling the microbeam to microfluidic devices for cell sorting and analysis.
