2017 Radiation Oncology Research Retreat

The Department of Radiation Oncology held its third annual research retreat on Friday, October 6th at the Columbia University Medical Center Faculty Club. The event was well attended with over 70 participants from both the clinical department as well as the Center for Radiological Research. Dr. Lee Goldman, Executive Vice-President and Dean of the Facilities of Health Sciences and Medicine, gave the opening lecture and delivered an informative and inspirational talk on new initiatives of the Medical Center and the future of academic medicine. The four scientific sessions with 2 invited lectures and 18 short presentations covered a wide range of topics. The retreat finished with a poster session containing 22 posters where two presenters were identified by a panel and presented with a Dinner for Two coupon.

Dr. Tom Hei, Professor and Vice-chairman of Radiation Oncology and Associate Director of the CRR announced at the retreat a new call for pilot grant applications with a December 15th deadline (Click here to view the call). The day-long research retreat was well received and ended with a high note over wine and cheese and networking between the clinical and research staff members of the Department.
